Pauline June Cox Cook

Pauline June Cox Cook, 81, of 1702 Plantation Drive, Collinsville, VA died Friday, January 2, 2009 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville/Henry County, Martinsville, VA. Born on June 3, 1927 in Kyle, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Paul Cox and Mabel Slusher Cox. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Edward Lee Cook and daughter, Clelia Cook Hylton. Mrs. Cook was a graduate of Welch High School, Welch, West Virginia, received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from Radford University, Radford, VA and received a Master’s Degree in Guidance from Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. She was employed by the McDowell County School System as an English Teacher at Welch High School for over 35 years and retired from Mount View High School, Welch, West Virginia as a Guidance Counselor. Mrs. Cook was a member of the First Baptist Church in Welch, West Virginia, where she was the organist for 38 years. She was a member of the Chaminade Music Club, The Library Board and the Delta Kappa Gamma, all in Welch, West Virginia.
Surviving are her sister, Linda Cox Jackson of the home and granddaughter, Kenlee Elizabeth Hylton also of the home.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 5, 2009 at Norris Funeral Services Chapel with Dr. Tilden Bridges officiating. A graveside service will be held, the same day, at 3:00 p.m. in the Woodlawn Memorial Park, Bluewell, West Virginia. The family will receive friends, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., on Sunday evening at Norris Funeral Services and other times at the home.
The family wants to give special thanks to her loving caregivers, Doris Broadnax, Adrene Cox, Paulette Hairston and Rachunda Woods.
